Watching brief for Civil
Defence
Following heavy rain and flooding in the Wellington Region yesterday the Wellington Region Emergency Management Office (WREMO) remains operational with a watching brief.
The Metservice is indicating some rain today, with a southerly change this afternoon, but the worst of the rain is expected to be north of the region.
All state highways, including 1, 2, and 58 are open, but motorists are warned there may be some debris and surface flooding remaining. Many local roads remain closed.
Trains will not be running until at least 1pm but bus services are still operating but people should check www.metlink.org.nz for details.
Residents and businesses with any concerns about the effect of flood water should contact their local council.
