Ratepayer’s Revolt Imminent?
Ratepayer’s Revolt Imminent?

Councillor Christine Fletcher has warned Councillors they
may face a ratepayer’s revolt if they increase general
rates any further in today’s budget committee meeting.
Affordable Auckland Mayoral candidate finds that quite
ironic given she has voted in favour of a transport levy
which will see residents in her ward paying an increase of
14.9%.
“I’m sure many voters in ward will be trying to work out the difference between her and rival councillor Cathy Casey.
“Ratepayers have been stabbed in the back by their Council representatives and a sneaky mayor who has engineered an entire consultation process to avoid delivering on his promise of an average 2.5% increase made before the last election.”
Mr. Berry believes ratepayers will now be wondering how best to express their outrage at the way fifteen councillors voted on the targeted transport levy. “I’ll be consulting with supporters over the weekend to see if Affordable Auckland can find a way to help.”
