Prince Harry Welcomed to the Capital

Prince Harry will honour the Anzac spirit in Wellington, during his first ever visit to New Zealand.

Prince Harry will lay a wreath at the National War Memorial, Saturday 9 May at 4:30pm. This is Prince Harry’s first visit to the Capital, and to New Zealand.

“It’s an honour and a pleasure to welcome Prince Harry to the Capital on his first visit to New Zealand,” says Mayor Celia Wade-Brown. “Pukeahu National War Memorial Park is a truly special place for remembrance and reflection.

That evening he will join local rugby fans for the Hurricanes vs. Sharks game at Westpac Stadium.

“I’m sure that the Hurricanes will put on a special show for the Prince.” says Mayor Celia Wade-Brown.

Wellingtonians are encouraged to attend the occasion at Pukeahu National War Memorial Park. As hundreds of people are expected, please plan ahead and aim to get there early, especially if you want a good view of the visiting Prince. Mayor Celia Wade-Brown says, “It’s just ten minutes’ walk from Courtenay Place where there is a good bus service.”

Parking

There will be a limited amount of on-street parking surrounding Pukeahu National War Memorial Park, however all Wellington City Council, Wilson, Carepark and Tournament car parking facilities will be open.

If you are planning to drive please allow extra time to walk from your car, and expect delays due high levels of traffic.

We will be reserving an area for those with special mobility requirements. Our Local Hosts will be on hand at the park to help direct you.
