Arrowtown by-election result

Scott Stevens, of Arrowtown, has been elected as the Arrowtown Ward representative on the Queenstown Lakes District Council.

Electoral Officer Jane Robertson released the provisional results after voting closed at noon today. Mr Stevens received 756 votes. Basil Walker received 103 votes and Howard Scott received 26 votes. The turnout was 46.70%

Ms Robertson said that 14 special votes and 35 ordinary votes delivered by hand on Friday morning had yet to be counted and she expected the final result to be declared early next week.

Mr Stevens will formally take his seat on the Council on 28 May, when he takes the oath of office prior to the monthly council meeting.
