Interim Chief Executive for Wairarapa and Hutt Valley DHBs
1 May 2015
Dr Ian McPherson will take up the role of Interim Chief Executive for Hutt Valley and Wairarapa DHBs, starting next week. Dr McPherson will continue in the role for the time that it takes each Board to recruit their Chief Executive.
Dr McPherson is well known in the health sector in New Zealand, with a reputation for strong leadership, strategic and communication skills and extensive and varied management, governance and medical experience both the public and not-for-profit health sectors in NZ and internationally.
The decision to appoint a CE for each DHB was made in March, to help address the unique health challenges of each region.
Both Wairarapa DHB Chair Derek Milne and Hutt Valley and CCDHB Chair Virginia Hope said their Board’s policies of working collaboratively with neighbouring DHBs, through arrangements which share clinical, management, planning and executive functions, have improved patient experiences, quality of care and productivity in the region, and that joint initiatives will continue.
