Pursuit on Auckland's Southern Motorway
At 0325 am this morning police saw a stolen Subaru car entering the motorway at Khyber Pass.
When they tried to stop the vehicle the driver fled and exited the motorway at Market Road, then entered the motorway off ramp at Market Road and drove south in the northbound lane at speeds of 110 kmh. Motorway cameras reported that the car did a U-turn at Mt Wellington and then drove north in the northbound lane to Ellerslie Panmure off ramp where it left the motorway.
On the Ellerslie Panmure interchange roundabout the car drove round the roundabout the wrong way while police headed towards the roundabout.
The driver tried to re enter the off ramp.
A police vehicle then pushed the stolen car into bushes.
The driver was arrested while the passenger ran off.
He was located in Wilkinson Ave.
