Apply now for community funding
Community organisations have until Tuesday 2 June 2015 to apply for funding from Christchurch City Council's Strengthening Communities Fund.
Each year, the Council allocates a significant amount of grants funding to local groups who are working on grassroots projects that contribute to the strengthening of community wellbeing in the Christchurch City area. In 2014, $7,107,429 was allocated to 938 groups.
The 2015–16 funding round opened on Monday 20 April, with one small change to the process.
"In previous years, we've had a Small Grants Fund for applications for $5000 and under," says Christchurch Deputy Mayor Vicki Buck. "Starting in 2015, to streamline the process, all applications will be considered for funding from the one Strengthening Communities Fund. As usual, successful applicants will be able to access funds by early September.
"We're supporting organisations that are sustainable, have a vision and maintain a strong presence in their community," Deputy Mayor Buck says. "There's a lot of great work being done by out there and for those groups that need a bit of support, the Strengthening Communities Fund is an invaluable resource to tap into."
To assist community groups in preparing for the 2015–16 funding round, the Council will run three information sessions:
