Children Twist & Turn Out A Story in New Dance Workshop
Children Twist & Turn Out A Story in A Series Of New Dance Workshops With Java Dance
Java Dance comes to
Capital E in a new series of dance workshops for children
aged 3-5 years. Every Tuesday at 10am - 10.30am from 5 May
– 30 June, children will twist and turn out a tale in
Dance A Story.
From giraffes who can’t dance, to rhinos that rock & roll and lions who tango, tiny dancers will explore a magical world of movement. Favourite characters will spring to life as we jump, spin and tip-toe to each story. Stories will include Giraffes Can’t Dance, Mister Whistler, Duck’s Stuck and The Animal Undie Ball.
Java Dance was founded in 2003 by artistic director Sacha Copland with graduates of the New Zealand School of Dance. Java is a New Zealand based professional dance company that consistently creates and presents original works of its own immersive brand of dance theatre. Now in its 12th year of operation, Java has performed to over 80,000 people around NZ, Australia and Edinburgh. Java’s work includes festival shows, schools tours & site-specific events with programmes crafted for adults, teenagers & kids.
Events Coordinator of Capital E Karen Carey says, “We enjoyed Java Dance performing and interacting with children in the recent Capital E National Arts Festival in their two shows, Dirt & Other Delicious Ingredients and Streets. We’re thrilled to welcome them back to Capital E Central to inspire children in telling stories through physical movement and dance.”
Dance A Story runs every Tuesday from 5 May – 30 June at 10am at Capital E Central, 4 Queens Wharf. Workshops are $5 per session and can be booked at E Central or by phone on 04 913 3740.
