Floral Anzac tribute to feature at Queenstown Airport
Queenstown Airport will mark the upcoming
Anzac Day centenary on 25 April with a special floral
tribute created by acclaimed Kiwi designer Craig
Thorburn.
Those passing through the main airport concourse this Saturday (11 April) from 10am onwards will have the chance to see Mr Thorburn at work as he weaves Anzac poppies and local flora and fauna into a unique and stunning display.
Mr Thorburn has more than 30 years’ theming experience and has designed artistic displays for the likes of royal visits, Heads of State dinners, international events and conferences. A stylist for nine years on House & Garden magazine, he has also won several awards including Gold at the Ellerslie Flower Show. Next weekend he will feature as a special guest at the Arrowtown Autumn Festival.
Queenstown Airport Acting CEO Mark Edghill said the airport team was delighted to have an artist of Mr Thorburn’s calibre on board.
“We wanted to do something special on behalf of all of the airport community so this is our way of remembering and thanking the New Zealanders and Australians who gave so much for their countries.”
