Stewart Murray Wilson Released
Stewart Murray Wilson Released
30 March 2015
Coralea Easther, Taranaki District Manager
Stewart Murray Wilson was released back into the community today after receiving parole in December.
He will be on GPS monitoring, live in the grounds of the prison and be subject to supervision if he leaves the house.
Whanganui is one of the few places in the country where, as far as we can determine, Mr Wilson has no victims and his location in the prison grounds is away from close neighbours.
The remaining period of his time to serve for his sentence will be completed on parole during which he will be recallable if he breaches any of his conditions and presents signs of elevated risk to the community.
The parole conditions have been made public and Mr Wilson will be housed in the grounds of Whanganui Prison and electronically monitored to ensure his whereabouts are known and to minimise the chance of a breach of the conditions.
The parole conditions are in place to ensure public safety during the period this offender is in the community.
At the same time Mr Wilson will be offered rehabilitation support.
Corrections’ Probation Services and the NZ Police have informed the appropriate community leaders of his presence and his registered victims have also been informed.
The local community’s understanding during this time is greatly appreciated.
