NEW WORK

Antigua St, Addington, one way south, Hazeldean Road to Disraeli St

SCIRT’s City Care team repaired the wastewater pipes on Antigua St in 2013. Final quality control checks have found two areas where the pipes have dipped due to ground conditions. These now need to be repaired, requiring a one-way south only system on Antigua St south of the railway line from Hazeldean Road to Disraeli St. The detour for northbound drivers is along Disraeli, up Braddon and along Hazeldean Road back to Antigua St. http://strongerchristchurch.govt.nz/work/activity/6564

Hazeldean Business Park, off Lincoln Road, Addington

Part of an earthquake-damaged wastewater pipe on Hazeldean Road, outside of the Hazeldean Business Park, will be repaired in the week of 23 March. One lane will be closed, with detours in place.

Huntsbury Hill, up Ramahana Road – busy

Two SCIRT teams are working on Huntsbury Hill currently – Fletcher on wastewater and Fulton Hogan on storm water. There may be short term one-way systems on and off the hill so drivers are asked to be alert for warnings.

Centaurus Road, St Martins – 26 March expect delays

SCIRT’s Fletcher team is working along a stretch of Centaurus Road between Austin Kirk Lane and Kowhai Terrace (along the river section east of Bowenvale Ave) on wastewater pipe bursting. This will involve either Stop/ Go signals or traffic lights from Thursday, 26 March for two weeks. This may cause delays along Centaurus Road.

Linwood Ave, Avonside Drive end
SCIRT’s McConnell Dowell team will be installing a new storm water pipe across Linwood Ave near the Avonside Drive end. Two-way traffic will remain around the work site but please slow around SCIRT crews.

Brookhaven - Ti Rakau Drive

There will be no exit onto Dyers Road from Ti Rakau Drive for about three weeks. Charlesworth St will be two-way onto Ferry Road.

Hampshire St, Aranui

Hampshire St is currently one-way, northbound only from Lyndhurst Crescent to Wainoni Road, while the vacuum chambers are being installed near the shopping centre. There will be a temporary closure of the Aranui Community Centre car park while the vacuum chambers are being installed. This work will take about three weeks. http://strongerchristchurch.govt.nz/work/activity/6562

City Care crews busy installing vacuum wastewater chambers in Aranui. With close to 750 of these big collection chambers to be installed, City Care and Fletcher are now over the half way mark.

Kerrs Road, Avonside/ Wainoni – traffic islands

SCIRT’s McConnell Dowell team is installing three pedestrian islands on Kerrs Road. Two-way traffic will remain but please take care around the crews.

ONGOING - suburbs

Update on access for South Brighton’s Bridge St bridge

The bridge traffic lanes are back on the new bridge deck so that provides for a more straightforward trip for drivers. Trucks are still not allowed until lanes are wider in a week’s time.

Banks Peninsula hill route, Governors Bay – sorry for unexpected delays

SCIRT’s Fletcher team is extremely sorry for unexpected delays for drivers over Dyers Pass Road this week while the retaining wall is being rebuilt. A semi-permanent traffic light system will be set up over the next week and a half. These lights will also ease the journey up and down the hill for pedestrians and cyclists.

SCIRT thanks everyone for taking care and building in extra time, watching for cyclists and pedestrians. http://strongerchristchurch.govt.nz/article/big-traffic-change-governors-bay-dyers-pass-road-down-to-one-lane-march-august

Marlow Road, Aranui, update

While work is underway on the vacuum wastewater system, there will be a progressive road closure in place on Marlow Road, starting from Pages Road the week starting 30 March. This work will continue until mid-June progressing up Marlow Road towards Hampshire Street. http://strongerchristchurch.govt.nz/work/activity/6545 .

Hampshire St, Aranui, closure Breezes Road end

SCIRT’s City Care team is closing the Breezes Road end of Hampshire St (from Breezes Road to Aldershot St) to install the wastewater main pipe. NB: The Metro bus detour for Pages Road while it is one-way is currently down Hampshire so that will be changed to Gosport St. http://strongerchristchurch.govt.nz/work/activity/6494

Eureka St, Aranui – northbound between Marlow and Rowan from 23 March

While wastewater vacuum work is underway near the intersection of Eureka St and Rowan Avenue, a one-way northbound only traffic system will be in place on Eureka St from Marlow Road to Rowan Ave. No left hand turn off Rowan Ave onto Eureka St. Two-way traffic should be reinstated by mid April. The change is to ensure the Metro bus route is maintained.

Wainoni Road, Aranui, vacuum wastewater installations continue

SCIRT’s City Care team has completed installing the vacuum wastewater main between Breezes Road and Portsmouth St on Wainoni Road. The next stage is installing the 17 vacuum collection chambers in the road shoulder and the lateral pipes to properties. Two-way traffic will be maintained but access to properties may be temporarily restricted.

Bassett St, Burwood – keep supporting the businesses Parnwell and Bassett

A lift station and a pumping station are being built on Bassett St, with the work site reducing the space on the road. There is a plan to extend the range of the traffic light controlled area. But for the time being, the status quo reigns.

Thanks to everyone who is supporting the businesses on Bassett and Parnwell Streets.
