Auckland Harbour Bridge will glow green tonight

Media Release

17 March 2015

Auckland Harbour Bridge will glow green tonight to celebrate St Patrick’s Day

2degrees is getting in the spirit of things and celebrating St Patrick’s Day this evening by lighting up the Auckland Harbour Bridge green as part of its ‘Play the Bridge’ light show.

2degrees ‘Play the Bridge’ fuses light, music and mobile to transform one of Auckland’s most recognisable landmarks into a giant LED music amplifier as part of the city’s 175th anniversary.

2degrees Head of Marketing Communications Trent Harnett said: “2degrees Play the Bridge is all about using technology to connect people and bring a fun event to our community. We’d like to thank NZTA and the Auckland City Council for giving us special permission to light the bridge static green tonight for Ireland’s National Day. We hope everyone enjoys the day.”

The ‘Play the Bridge’ light show will project from the city-facing side of the Auckland Harbour Bridge. While the lights won’t dance to music tonight, the bridge is set to come to life again this coming Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from 7:30pm with the full music amplification show running from 8:00pm until 11:30pm until April 25th.

People can go online www.playthebridge.co.nz to select their favourite songs. The most popular tracks will be brought to life in a spectacular way. The performances can be watched via live stream on mobiles or laptops, or in person at several great vantage spots around the harbour.
