Greenlea Rescue Helicopter Open Day
Greenlea Rescue Helicopter Open Day
Don’t miss your chance to meet the
hardworking crew behind the Greenlea Rescue
Helicopter.
Next Sunday, Taupo’s Greenlea Rescue Helicopter opens its hangar to the public for their annual Open Day, held on base on Anzac Memorial Drive. Owned by New Zealand’s largest search and rescue helicopter operator, Philips Search and Rescue Trust, a series of base Open Days are being held around the Central North Island in March.
Serving the Taupo and Central Plateau region, the helicopter's broad coverage area encompasses mountains, lakes, river and bush land. Crewed by volunteers, and predominantly in a holiday destination, community and tourist generosity plays a crucial role in funding Greenlea Rescue Helicopter’s emergency service. The upcoming Open Day is an opportunity for people to see the impact their donations can have.
A day out with a difference, Taupo’s Open Day will enable you to get up close and personal with the Greenlea Rescue Helicopter and crew. Rescue demonstrations by both the Greenlea Rescue Helicopter team and local emergency services, competitions, refreshments, entertainment and the opportunity to win a helicopter flight ensure an action packed day for the family.
Admission to the Open Day is free, held Sunday 22nd March from 10am to 2pm at their Hangar, 1105 Anzac Memorial Drive, Taupo, for further information call 0800 11 10 10 or visit http://rescue.org.nz.
