Tropical Cyclone Pam - expect heavy rain on the Coromandel

Tropical Cyclone Pam is expected to remain to the east of New Zealand, but we are still expecting some rain and wind starting late Sunday.

MetService have severe weather information on their website which says that the Coromandel can expect heavy amounts of rain and severe southeast gales, with the severity increasing on Monday.

"Cyclones can cause panic, the best way to combat this is to be prepared and don't take risks," says Gary Talbot, Thames Valley Emergency Operations Manager.

"Check your property for loose items like trampolines and garden furniture and tie them down, make sure you have plenty of fresh water available and keep up to date with weather forecasts."

We will be posting more regular updates on the weather, road closures, flooding etc. throughout the weekend via our TCDC Facebook page. If you have any reports of trees down, flooding or road closures please call our Customer Services Team 24/7 on 07 868 0200.
