Police Station implosion date not confirmed

Response to Rebuild Christchurch website purporting that the “Christchurch Police Station will be imploded on Saturday April 18th”
It is most unfortunate that earthquake blogger, Deon Swiggs from Rebuild Christchurch decided to announce an implosion date for the Christchurch Police Station when a firm date hasn't been confirmed.
As previously advised by Ngai Tahu property, an exact implosion date is still being finalised. However, it is scheduled to occur in the first quarter of 2015.
CeresNZ is surprised that Mr Swiggs clearly did not consider it was necessary to verify the accuracy of his source and as a result of this error advised on the Rebuild Christchurch Face book an implosion date that is incorrect.
Had Mr Swiggs contacted our company or our PR Advisors, Momentus PR, we would have hopefully avoided several thousand people being misled.
Ceres NZ appreciates the significant public and media interest with the Police station implosion and in consultation with Ngai Tahu Property will announce an exact implosion date once this is decided upon.
Ends.
