Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter attends to multiple motorcycle accidents

The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter transported two boys with suspected leg fractures from an isolated west coast beach south of Port Waikato this evening. The boys were both riding motorbikes on the beach when they collided with each other. They were treated by on board St. John paramedics before being flown to Middlemore Hospital.

On return the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to a motorbike accident on a farm near Karamu, west of Hamilton, where a 25 year old local farm worker came off his motorbike. St John Paramedics treated the man before he was flown to Waikato Hospital. The helicopter was used due to its ability to get expert medical attention rapidly to a difficult farm location.

Philips Search and Rescue Trust is a charitable organisation, operating rescue helicopters throughout the Central North Island. Philips Search and Rescue Trust relies on support from principal sponsors and community donations. Special thanks to Waikato King Country's principal sponsor, Westpac. This crucial financial support ensures our rescue helicopters can continue to bring life-saving equipment, rescue personnel and trauma-trained medics directly to the patient.
