Waitangi Day garden fair on Friday
Tupare will again be the focus of family fun as it hosts a Waitangi Day garden fair on Friday (6 February).
The
premier New Plymouth heritage property has hosted free
Waitangi Day fairs for four years, with a popular addition
in recent times being family-focused games on the Tupare
river flat, where newly developed amenities include a
barbecue and toilets.
Friday’s activities will kick off at 8.30am with a guided walk, and the fair will run from 10am to 3pm. Attractions will include live music, craft and food stalls, a display of vintage cars, as well as games down by the Waiwhakaiho River.
Tupare’s New Year fair in January attracted more than 2000 people and Waitangi Day is also expected to be a big day.
The Waitangi Day events are part of a year-round programme of workshops and other events at Tupare, Pukeiti and Hollard Gardens, the three heritage properties owned and administered by the Taranaki Regional Council on behalf of the people of the region. For more information, see www.tupare.info, www.hollardgardens.info and www.pukeiti.org.nz. The Tupare guided walk on Waitangi Day is also part of the New Plymouth District Council’s Summer Guided Walks programme.
