Call for further nominations for Hastings Civic Honour
Call for further nominations for Hastings Civic Honours awards
Hastings District Council is encouraging residents to consider placing a nomination for the 2015 Civic Honours Awards.
The awards recognise an individual, group or voluntary organisation that has contributed significantly to the Hastings community. Nominations can be placed in one of six categories; arts and culture, health and welfare, sport and recreation, education and youth, new volunteer and youth volunteer.
Hastings Mayor Lawrence Yule says ‘Thousands of people from our community give their time willingly each year in support of sporting or community organisations. It’s appropriate that Council recognises the work of these people and we need to be sure that we receive nominations for people from all walks of life.”
“Volunteers are playing an increasingly important role in ensuring a large variety of services are maintained in Hastings. These awards recognise our stand-out residents for their dedication, perseverance and tenacity in fulfilling their aim to help, teach or nurture others. It is important that everyone identifies those members of their organisation or community who are deserving of a nomination."
The nominations will be judged by the Council’s Civic Awards subcommittee before the presentations are made at a ceremony on Monday 8th June 2015.
Nominations close on Friday 27th February 2015 and forms are available at the Hastings, Havelock North and Flaxmere libraries or Council’s Service Centre in Lyndon Road. Nomination forms can also be completed online atwww.hastingsdc.govt.nz/civicawards
