Walk among the stars with Hutt City
Libraries
New Zealand offers some of the best views of the night sky, and Hutt City Libraries is giving budding stargazers the chance to view the Milky Way and the Magellanic Clouds like never before.
Haritina Mogosanu, one of New Zealand's leading planetarium presenters and astronomy educators, is holding two exclusive stargazing sessions at the War Memorial and Eastbourne Libraries at the end of January.
Sandra Mann, Divisional Manager Libraries, says that, “Hutt City Libraries is exceptionally lucky to have Haritina’s expertise and we’re really excited to be able to share this with Hutt City residents.”
Both sessions will begin with an interactive presentation and question and answer sessions, followed by an opportunity to view the night sky through two telescopes supplied by Haritina. Attendees can also opt to explore the Milky Way at their own pace, by bringing along their own viewing device.
Sessions take place:
• Friday 30 January, 8:00pm - 9:00pm, War Memorial Library
• Saturday 31 January, 8:15pm - 9:45pm Eastbourne Library
Entry is free.
