Hutt Valley Line to remain partially closed until further notice
All services on the Hutt Valley Line are replaced by bus between Taita and Petone due to an overhead power fault at Ava.
Passengers travelling on the Hutt Valley Line should expect delays today and make alternative travel arrangements if travel is urgent.
All services on the Hutt Valley Line are bus replaced between Taita and Petone due to urgent work required to repair overhead wire and traction poles at Ava. Bus replacements are limited and a special half hourly timetable is in place until further notice.
KiwiRail Infrastructure staff have been working throughout the night to repair the damage as a result of last night’s incident at Ava. However, more work is required before normal services can resume.
The limited bus replacements will continue to shuttle between Taita and Petone, and trains will shuttle between Petone and Wellington and Taita and Upper Hutt until further notice.
Tranz Metro will be updating its website as they have more information. Customers subscribed to the Tranz Metro text and email alert messaging service will also be advised of any updates or new information.
Melling and Wairarapa services will run to timetable but could experience some delays until the Hutt Valley Line is fully reopened.
An update on this afternoon’s peak services will be available at 1.30pm today
Wairarapa Line
All Wairarapa Line services will run as trains from Masterton to Wellington. Services are currently running approximately 20 minutes late.
