Wellington Zoo celebrates International Volunteer
Day
Wellington Zoo is celebrating International Volunteer Day by recognising the 113 people who make up the Zoo’s team of volunteers.
“Our volunteers recognise Wellington Zoo as a valuable place to give back to their community, and we treasure their dedication and invaluable support,” said Volunteer Manager Danielle Oldbury.
“Their contributions help Wellington Zoo not only operate on a day-to-day basis, but also connect us with the wider community on a very personal level.”
“We also immensely appreciate the support of our corporate volunteers, with nearly 40 groups offering a helping hand around the Zoo this past year.”
Since July 2014 volunteers have contributed 5,349 hours of their time to Wellington Zoo.
“Our volunteer team consists of amazing people from all walks of life. 70% are Kiwis; the rest come from all over the world. In total we have representatives from 15 different countries volunteering with us. It’s a privilege to work with such a diverse and interesting group of people,” added Danielle.
“Despite everyone being so different, they all share a love of Wellington Zoo.”
