SH2 Pekatahi Bridge, near Taneatu, closed December 1

27 November 2014 | NZ Transport Agency - Waikato & Bay of Plenty

SH2 Pekatahi Bridge, near Taneatu, closed for maintenance December 1

A stretch of State Highway 2 (SH2) between Awakeri and Taneatua in the Bay of Plenty will be closed overnight next week to allow contractors to work on Pekatahi Bridge.

Detours will be in place during the maintenance works, which start at 7pm, Monday December 1and run until 6am the following morning.

The NZ Transport Agency says the detour, through Whakatane via State Highway 30, Hinemoa Street, Arawa Road and Taneatua Rd, will add about 10 minutes to normal travel times.

The works, to replace part of the timber deck on Pekatahi Bridge, are weather dependent and may need to continue for a second night.

The Transport Agency apologises in advance for any inconvenience and thanks Whakatane District Council for their cooperation and motorists for their patience while the works are underway.
