‘Save Our Water’ campaign launches
‘Save Our Water’ campaign will run during December and January and will focus on providing residents with advice on how
they can conserve water in and around the home.
Nelson Lebo, eco design advisor at the Palmerston North City Council will be providing free information and advice on
how to be water conscious by identifying water savings at home and in the garden.
“If we all start conserving water now,” Nelson says, “we can help reduce the likelihood of severe water restrictions
being introduced over summer. Being water efficient at home can also save on household power bills.”
Residents who book a free water saving consultation with the eco design advisor, will receive a water saving kit and go
into a weekly draw to win an 800L water tank during the two months.
The campaign will launch with a short film, ‘The Monk, The Engineer and The Artificial Glacier’ to be held at the
Central Library, Thursday December 4, from 6.30pm to 7.30pm, on the 1st floor. It will be followed by a talk on the
challenges and solutions of managing water shortages in Ladakh, India.
“The project is an amazing example of eco design in action,” Nelson said. “Although the conditions in Palmerston North
are different from those in Ladakh, the lessons learned from eco design thinking can help us manage our water better.”
The council’s Eco Design Advisory Service is free to residents of Palmerston North.
