Prime retail opportunity in Bus Interchange
Retail spaces are being offered for lease in Christchurch’s new $53 million Bus Interchange as construction of the
facility pushes ahead.
Five retail “pods”, ranging from 30 square metres in size to 92 square metres, are being offered for lease from the
middle of next year when the Bus Interchange will be open and operating.
Colliers International has been contracted to engage with the retail community to find suitable tenants on behalf of the
Christchurch Central Development Unit (CCDU), which is leading the Bus Interchange project in partnership with the
Christchurch City Council, Environment Canterbury and New Zealand Transport Agency.
“Our initial thinking is the pods will be suitable for a café and food outlets, a convenience store and a tourism
related service,” says CCDU director Warwick Isaacs.
“This will be a big plus for users of the Interchange, who will be able to grab something to eat or drink, or other
items or services they might need as they wait for their buses or stop off on journeys to other locations.”
The build of the Bus Interchange is well advanced, with steel framing going up following the pouring of concrete
foundations.
