QLD Mayor Urges One Last Push for Gigatown Wanaka
As the Gigatown competition enters its final phase, Queenstown Lakes District Mayor Vanessa van Uden is rallying the community for one last push in support of Wanaka’s bid for victory.
“Wanaka has made a magnificent effort to make the finals, and is really punching above its weight in this last stage, as it competes against much bigger communities for public support,” she said.
Gigatown Wanaka had made an inspirational video in support of its business plan, and the public’s vote was worth a crucial 15 percent of the final score in the competition. The video and plan are both online at http://gigatown.co.nz/
“Now is the time for our whole district to get behind Wanaka,” Mayor van Uden said. “It doesn’t matter if you haven’t been part of the Gigatown campaign already – anyone can register to vote in this crucial last phase and it only takes a couple of minutes.”
Voting closes next Monday and the winning Gigatown will be announced next Wednesday.
“This has been a long journey and the GigatownWanaka campaign has been fuelled by determination and pride. I hope everyone in our district will do this one thing: just go to http://gigatown.co.nz/ and vote for Wanaka.”
