Bay of Plenty and Lakes communities offered Drinking-Water Subsidy Scheme
Smaller, disadvantaged communities within the Bay of Plenty and Lakes regions are being encouraged to apply for the Government’s Drinking-Water Subsidy Scheme (DWSS) to help improve their drinking water supply systems.
The scheme aims to help communities with less than 5,000 people and in more disadvantaged areas, establish or improve their drinking water supply systems with a yearly allocation of $10 million dollars available.
Eligibility for the scheme includes communities with a deprivation index of seven and above and where the water supply will serve a permanent population of between 25 and 5,000 people. All applications will be prioritised and ranked, and funding allocated accordingly.
Applications need to be received by Toi Te Ora – Public Health Service before 20 December 2014 so that they can be forwarded to the Ministry of Health for assessment. Application forms can be found at http://www.ttophs.govt.nz/drinking_water
For more information about the scheme and how to apply for a subsidy, contact Bay of Plenty Technical Officer for Drinking Water, Raelyn Rika at raelyn.rika@bopdhb.govt.nz
