New Line-up Awaits Toast Martinborough Guests
All 10,000 visitors expected at Sunday’s Toast Martinborough festival are in for a treat, with more wine, food and
music-focused events than ever before.
The extensive new line-up includes culinary masterclasses presented by well-known chefs and local celebrities, a
mouth-watering range of gastronomic delights prepared by festival newcomers Capitol & WBC and The Crab Shack, and opportunities to meet the winemakers responsible for the region’s award-winning wines.
Visitors who appreciate great music will also be spoilt for choice, with more than 20 artists providing all-day
entertainment. Those making their Toast Martinborough debut include electro-folk soloist Sonic Delusion, Afro beat
super-band King Ori Ori and the Masterons (including Trinity Roots frontman Warren Maxwell) and Latin fusion ensemble
the Carlos Navae Band.
“That’s just a taste of what’s in store,” says Toast Martinborough General Manager Rachael Fletcher.
“Food supremo Julie Biuso and actor/comedian Mark Hadlow will contribute their amazing talents to the festival, there’ll
be gourmet food demonstrations, wine tutorials and specialist seafood and bubbly bars, and – as always – guests will be
able to taste an incredible range of astoundingly good wines, including some exclusive to the festival.
“As for food, who could resist morsels like soft-shell tacos with crab, coriander and chilli, West Coast whitebait
fritters, and arancini balls with Moroccan spiced pork, gooey mozzarella and roasted garlic aioli?”
Fletcher advises festival-goers to wear layers on the day. “Martinborough’s well known for its sunny microclimate, and
the forecast is looking good with 17 degrees – but it pays to prepare for all conditions,” she says. “That includes
bringing hats and sunscreen.
“We look forward to welcoming everyone to this fantastic event – it’s going to be a great day in the vineyards!”
