SH2 road closure: detours in place north of Tauranga
A stretch of State Highway 2 (SH2) between Gill Lane and Munroe Road, north of Tauranga, will be closed to traffic at times during the next two weeks to allow contractors to widen and repair the road.
The closure will be in place between the hours of 6am and 7pmseven days a week, from this week until approximately November 21, weather dependent.
Northbound traffic travelling towards Waihi will be detoured via Te Puna Quarry Road and southbound heading towards Tauranga will be detoured via Munroe Road.
The NZ Transport Agency says detours are not expected to add more than three minutes to journey time and motorists should expect only minor delays.
Trucks and heavy vehicles are unable to use the detours and will be let through the work site at regular intervals.
During peak times (7.30am-9am) traffic heading into Tauranga will also be allowed to travel on SH2.
The Transport Agency apologises for any inconvenience and thanks motorists for their understanding while these important works are carried out.
