The Long Walk Home
Mayor Wade-Brown is joining Lions Clubs and many Wellingtonians to walk four hours from Wellington to Porirua to raise awareness of the need to plan for emergencies.
"Households, businesses and Councils all need emergency plans. In a major event, transport systems will be disrupted. Walking could be the most reliable way to get home to your loved ones." says Mayor Celia. "Always keep a pair of walking shoes at work and in your car. "
The walk leaves Wellington Railway Station just after 8:15 today (Saturday) and goes to Porirua on Day One and on to Kāpiti on Day Two.
