Auckland Transport board member steps down

Board member Mike Williams acknowledged

Founding Auckland Transport (AT) Board member Mike Williams was farewelled at today’s monthly meeting.

Mr Williams has been a director of AT since the organisation was formed in 2010. He has retired by rotation and a replacement is expected to be announced this week.

Mr Williams has previously been a director of Transit NZ (now the New Zealand Transport Agency), the former Auckland Regional Transport Authority and the New Zealand Railways Corporation as well as a number of other Government-appointed boards.

AT chairman Dr Lester Levy says: “Mike’s contribution to not only Auckland, but to the country must be acknowledged. With his background in governance, particularly in the transport sector, Mike has been a valuable contributor to the successes AT has had since it was formed. I take this opportunity to thank him personally, and on behalf of the Board and staff of Auckland Transport.”

At today’s meeting Dr Levy and Auckland Transport Board member and Auckland Councillor Mike Lee also paid tribute to former AT chairman Mark Ford who passed away earlier this month.
