Girl Critically Injured After Being Hit by Motorcycle
The Rotorua based BayTrust Rescue helicopter was dispatched to Lake Rotoma at around 8pm Sunday evening to attend an
accident which saw a young girl struck by a motorcycle.
State Highway 30, where the accident occurred, was closed for a period of time to allow emergencies services to attend
to the young girl and clear a suitable landing site for the BayTrust Rescue Helicopter. The young girl was transported
to Rotorua Hospital in a critical condition.
The BayTrust Rescue Helicopter was despatched due to the serious nature of the girls injuries and the need for quick
transportation.
Prior to this the BayTrust Rescue Helicopter had just returned from Ruatahuna where a sick infant was attended to by the
Rescue Helicopter and a St John Ambulance crew.
