Network summary for week ending 19 October 2014

Electricity

A bus struck a transformer in Glen Eden during the week, causing a power outage to the area. Our control room stayed in close contact with emergency services, restoring power to the area as soon as it was safe to do so.

There were four car vs. pole incidents during the week, in Panmure, Manurewa Central, Takanini and Mt Wellington. Emergency services alerted us to a person trapped in a vehicle at the Takanini incident. Our contractors attended, and were able to advise our control room that the trapped person was not near a power pole and therefore there was no danger of electrocution.

Our control room isolated power to building fires on Queen St, Auckland and Snells Beach during the week. Power supply to the area was not affected.

Gas

Third party damage to our gas network occurred in Hamilton, Remuera, Castor Bay, Birkdale and Mangere during the week. Only one customer was affected by each incident, with the Mangere and Birkdale incidents requiring a relight for the affected customers.

Third party damage was responsible for traces of gas odour in Kohimarama, Rothesay Bay and Taupo during the week. Our contractors isolated the damage with only one customer affected in these three incidents.
