Pizza delivery worker robbed at gunpoint

A man in his 20's has been arrested following an incident in Tauranga in which a man delivering Pizza was robbed at gunpoint.

Police went to an address in the Tauranga suburb of Parkvale after a Pizza deliver worker was robbed of $23 worth of pizzas by a man armed with a handgun.

The pizza had earlier been ordered by phone, and the robbery happened when the delivery man went to the address with the order.

When the armed man demanded that he hand over the Pizzas without payment the delivery worker ran away and called police.

The Tauranga armed offenders squad was deployed and a man was arrested at about 11pm. He is being interviewed by police, and a scene guard has been placed on the address.

Enquiries will continue this morning.
