Sites Going Fast At New, Improved Northland Field Day Grounds
WITH little under half a year to go before the 2015 Northland Field Days businesses will need to move quickly to book a
space according to event coordinator Meagan Edmonds.
Early site registration had climbed 50% on last year according to Edmonds who said only a little over 10% of the site
had not been spoken for.
“Businesses got in contact with me to pick out sites much faster this year,” says Edmonds. “Anybody still on the fence
on whether to attend the event next year will need to move fast if they want to come along.”
Strong interest doesn't surprise organisers who say last year's bumper event, and good economic conditions in Northland
are suggesting a strong exhibitor presence at the 2015 event.
Northland's economy has grown 6.9% in the last 12 months according to a recent ANZ Regional Trend survey, with Northland
businesseses growing 2% faster than their Auckland and Canterbury counterparts.
With an economy largely based on pastoral farming and forestry Northland Field Days president Lew Duggan says the
Northland Field Days acts as a showcase where farmers, forestry gang operators and farm and forestry workers attend as a
point of order to get the supplies and services they will need for the next 12 months.
“It's Northland's biggest business event of the year, worth tens of millions in new business to the region,” says
Duggan. “Around 27,000 people attended the event this year alone, a figure we hope to top at the next event.”
Visitors to the 2015 event can expect a higher level of comfort and convenience with organisers planning improvements to
event grounds.
Next year visitors will be able to access the field days via a pedestrian friendly walkway, purchasing tickets from
newer, smarter gate facilities and once inside enjoy the convenience and comfort of a new permanent toilet block.
“The Northland Field Days events ground has slowly been improved and added to over the past 10 years,” says Duggan.
“While a toilet block and better pedestrian access will be the most ambitious changes to date they pale to the
improvements we have planned in the very near future.”
