Man arrested after car stolen at gunpoint in Hamilton

At approximately 3pm today a car was reported to have been stolen from a woman at gunpoint by two men in the Hamilton
suburb of Chartwell.
The offenders fled the scene in the stolen vehicle (a black Daihatsu hatchback) heading North. The vehicle was
identified by a passing Police officer in Huntly just after 4pm. Following a short pursuit and the deployment of road
spikes, the vehicle was stopped in Ngaruawahia and the sole occupant apprehended. Fortunately no injuries were sustained
by anybody as the events of the afternoon unfolded.
A 25 year-old man will be appearing in the Hamilton District Court tomorrow on aggravated robbery charges in relation to
the incident.
Police seek urgent assistance from members of the public to identify and locate the second person involved in the
robbery. He is described as male, Maori, of solid build, early to mid 20's and wearing a long sleeved light-coloured
top.
