Family fun day at Pukeiti

Published: Mon 29 Sep 2014 09:17 AM
All things avian will be the focus of a family fun day at Pukeiti on Sunday (5 October).
Part of Pukeiti’s bi-monthly schedule of child-friendly Explorer Days, the event will focus on birdlife and the sounds bird make.
Activities will include bird watching from Pukeiti’s new tree houses, learning about bird calls and other sounds of the forest, and participation in the national kereru count (www.kererucount.org.nz) and shining cuckoo study (tinyurl.com/shining-cuckoo).
The day's activities run from 10.30am to 2pm. Bring a picnic lunch and drinks, good shoes, hats, coats and sunblock.
Sunday’s Explorer Day is part of a year-round programme of free public events at Pukeiti, Hollard Gardens and Tupare, the three heritage properties owned and managed by the Taranaki Regional Council on behalf of the people of the region.
For more information, see www.pukeiti.org.nz, www.tupare.info and www.hollardgardens.info. Social media users can also follow the three Taranaki Regional Council Gardens on Facebook (TaranakiRegionalGardens) and Twitter (@TaranakiRG).
