Inner city street fair returns to Te Aro
Wellington’s fastest growing little street fair is returning to Te Aro’s Tennyson Street on 19 October and is set to be
bigger and better than ever.
The Tennyson Street Fair, in just its third year, has expanded to meet demand, filling the entire length of the inner
city street with market stalls, food, bands, art and family entertainment.
“Last year we had an estimated 4-5,000 people attend through the day, and word has got out that it’s a great family day
out, so we’re expecting even more people this year” said event manager Thomas Buchanan.
“With the expansion we’ve been able to fit in a bigger range of food and market stalls, along with additional
entertainment options for all the family – it’s going to be a good one!”
In addition to market and food stalls, the Fair also encompasses a pop-up art gallery featuring local artists, with
works for sale, two stages with bands playing all day, and several fun entertainment options for all the family.
Created by local church, Elim International Church, the Fair is seen as a great way of creating community in inner city
Wellington, and previous years have also included community workshops, challenges, and fundraising opportunities.
The Tennyson Street Fair runs from 10.30am – 4.30pm on Sunday 19 October, with a postponement date of 26 October in case
of inclement weather.
