"Police locate body in Ashley Forest"
Canterbury Police Search and Rescue and Dog teams searching the Mt Grey area of the Ashley Forest located the body of a deceased male late this afternoon.
The body has been formally identified tonight as that of 61 year old Christchurch man, John Patrick DALY, who was last seen leaving the BP station on Marshland Road last Saturday.
Next of kin have been informed and offered Victim Support. The family is understandably upset and have asked for privacy while they try to come to terms with their loss.
The death has been referred to the Coroner, who will make a determination as to the cause of death.
Police would like to thank the members of the public who have contacted them with information and possible sightings of the missing man.
