Public Consultation on Safety Bylaw

Public Consultation on Safety Bylaw
25 SEPTEMBER 2014

Hamilton City Council today approved a proposal for the Hamilton Safety in Public Places Bylaw to go out for public consultation.

The Safety Bylaw is one of the actions under the recently approved Hamilton Central City Safety Plan.

“This bylaw is in response to the community’s concerns about safety and sets boundaries for what is acceptable and unacceptable behaviour in the city.

“The Council takes safety very seriously and is taking action. This is a common sense approach about what is acceptable behaviour,” says Mayor Hardaker.

The public can submit feedback on the proposed bylaw from Wednesday 1 October until Friday 17 October 2014.

Drop in information sessions will be held on Monday 13 October from 12pm to 1pm in the Hamilton City Council Reception Lounge and from 5.30pm to 6.30pm in the Council Ground Floor Foyer.

Following the consultation period the Council will hold hearings before deciding whether to adopt the bylaw.
