Applications closing soon
Don’t miss out on this round of Horizons Regional Council’s community grants programme and get your application in by 5pm Friday 3 October.
The last round of grants saw 15 groups from all areas of the Region benefit and included native bush redevelopment, pest control, numerous plantings and development of wetland areas.
Horizons media and communications manager Kate Ritani says “a number of applications have been received already but there’s still time to get yours in”.
“This programme is a great way for Horizons to support community groups and we’ve noticed more and more groups are doing great things to protect the environment,” says Mrs Ritani.
“We’d also like to remind all the fantastic community groups in the Region that World Rivers Day is coming up on Monday 29 September so come and join our staff at key sites listed on our websitewww.horizons.govt.nz.”
The Horizons community grants programme is in its third year with grants available to support community-led projects that help in making the Manawatu-Wanganui Region a great place to live, work and play.
Community groups, schools, early childhood centres and iwi/hapu groups are all eligible to apply for a grant from the $20,000 pool. These will be awarded to projects that enhance the Region and encourage more people to engage with the natural environment.
The closing date for community grants applications is Friday 3 October. For further information please visit www.horizons.govt.nz or phone Horizons on 0508 800 800.
