Executive Changes at Waikato DHB

EXECUTIVE CHANGES AT WAIKATO DHB
Waikato District Health Board’s chief operating officer Jan Adams is to take up a newly created position of primary care strategic liaison for the DHB early next month while Brett Paradine, currently general manager of the DHB’s planning and funding team, will become interim chief operating officer.
Arrangements for interim leadership of planning and funding will be announced shortly.
Waikato DHB chief executive Nigel Murray said moving such an experienced health care leader into a primary care strategic role would strengthen the DHB’s relationships with primary care organisations and other Midland DHBs.
“Jan has shown through her 41 years working in health that she has many special capabilities – the most significant one for her new role is her ability to work with a number of organisations and people to get the best result for health. Her achievements in Taumarunui and Tokoroa in more recent times are evidence of that.”
Mrs Adams chaired the Taumarunui Integrated Health Care governance group, which successfully implemented an integrated health care model for north Ruapehu and was part of a team which brought GP practices, a new pharmacy and several other health services into a modern health campus at the Tokoroa Hospital campus.
“Brett’s background here at Waikato and before that as general manager Planning and Funding at Taranaki DHB, where his executive role was an operational management one, means he will be able to step in as chief operating officer in an interim capacity while I continue my orientation as chief executive,” said Dr Murray, who started at Waikato DHB in July this year.
“Brett has achieved objectives through innovation and effective change management in varied economic climates, whilst translating government policy initiatives to front line service delivery,” he said.
Mrs Adams and Mr Paradine start in their new positions on Monday 6 October.
