Indecent assault - Taupo Police appeal for information
Taupö Police are currently investigating a sexual assault on a local teenage female. The incident occurred at about 3:25pm on Friday, 12 September on Kaimanawa Street near Spa Road. The victim was walking with a friend when a man approached and inappropriately touched her.
The man is described as Maori, approximately 30-40 years old, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, clean shaven, short black hair with a receding hairline, of solid to overweight build with poor posture.
He is also described as having either a lazy eye or being cross-eyed.
Taupö Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the assault or holds any information which may assist Police in identifying this offender.
Detective Claire Rogers said: "This was a brazen, opportunist assault and we are eager to resolve this offence for the sake of the victim, her family and in order to prevent any future incidents of this nature.
"I would like to take this is an opportunity to remind members of the public to report any suspicious people or concerning behaviour to the Police immediately."
