Invitation to talk about the BIG SIX
Invitation to talk about the BIG SIX
Afternoon tea chats with Hawke’s Bay Regional Councillors are just one way people can add their ten cents to HBRC’s re-think on next year’s Long Term Plan.
Councillors have been workshopping the region’s strategic priorities for the next 10 to 50 years and have identified ‘The Big Six’ which they want to get feedback on.
As well as afternoon tea chats, HBRC is writing to and emailing key organisations and groups offering to visit their meetings to talk through these priorities, and hear what groups have to say.
HBRC’s Chairman Fenton Wilson is right behind this. He says, “Early informal conversations with people across the region will help to develop a relevant Long Term Plan that focuses us on the right areas of activity.”
“We want to know what’s important to you, and how we can best serve our community,” he adds.
Information is online at www.hbrc.govt.nz (search: TheBigSix) and in a printed booklet available from HBRC. As well as letters and emails, Council will promote The Big Six using social media.
The six priorities that Councillors have identified are:
- Our Energy Future
- Relationship with Māori
- Regional Economic Development
- Connecting Our Region (transport and communications)
- Wise Land Use
- Climate Change.
The first afternoon tea
chat is on Wednesday 24 September, 3.30 - 4.30pm at HBRC’s
Council Chamber, 159 Dalton Street, Napier. People are
asked to RSVP by Tuesday 23 September.
A second
afternoon tea will be held on Wednesday 8 October, 3.30 -
4.30pm, also in HBRC’s Chamber.
Feedback on The Big Six needs to be with HBRC by 15 October. This will help Councillors and staff consider comments and ideas as they continue their preliminary Long Term Plan workshops. However comments after that date will still be welcome.
