National innovation award for Rotorua i-SITE
Rotorua Visitor Centre & i-SITE has won the Innovation Award at the 2014 National i-SITE Conference in Dunedin this week.
The Rotorua District Council-owned i-SITE is part of a network of over 80 i-SITE offices across New Zealand. The network
is the Tourism New Zealand-endorsed official channel for New Zealand visitor information.
Rotorua Visitor Centre & i-SITE manager Graham Brownrigg said it was fantastic that his team’s commitment to delivering enhanced services to
visitors had been acknowledged by their tourism peers.
“We essentially won the award for our business focussed approach to information services, particularly our new and
innovative displays and promotion areas.
“With over 900,000 visitors a year, we have one of the busiest i-SITES in the country, so it’s important we present the
best possible first impression for Rotorua. Our i-SITE is also a great resource for assisting local people with ideas
and information when hosting family and friends at our wonderful destination.”
Destination Rotorua Marketing, Events, i-SITE & Venues’ interim chief executive, Mark Rawson, said the i-SITE team performs a very important ‘Welcome to Rotorua’ function for the local visitor industry, and he was proud of the team’s latest achievement.
“The Innovation Award reinforces the team’s excellent reputation for operating one of the best information centres in
the country. Their good work is clearly contributing to the council’s economic growth goals and helping build positive
perceptions about Rotorua as a great visitor destination.”
