Nominations open for civic heroes
Christchurch City Council is urging residents to get online or put pen to paper and nominate their local unsung heroes for the 2014 Christchurch Civic Awards.
Nominations for this year’s awards are now open and will close 17 October 2014.
“These prestigious awards recognise the people who give so much of their time and energy to help make Christchurch such a wonderful city,” says Councillor Yani Johanson, Chair of the Civic Awards Subcommittee.
“Their efforts can take many forms — upholding the rights of others, service above self, or contributing toward community-building through their exceptional service and achievements.
“Many people and groups make extraordinary contributions to our city. The Civic Award is the highest honour that the Council can give to recognise the civic-mindedness and positive impact of those contributions.”
Both individuals and organisations can be nominated for civic commendation, for any significant contribution or service to the city and the people of Christchurch.
Further information about the 2014 Civic Awards, including nomination forms, is available online at www.ccc.govt.nz/civicawards and at all Council service centres, libraries and the Civic Offices.
Christchurch City Council’s Community Boards also hold Community Service Awards which recognise service to specific communities or wards. More information about these can be found at www.ccc.govt.nz/communityservicesawards
