ILLUMINATE: PEACE DAY - THIS WEEKEND
Pack a picnic and grab a blanket, gather your friends and family, and come celebrate your community as the Museum hosts a special film projection on its Northern Façade which celebrates peace. In honour of the International Day of Peace, New Zealand photographer Stu Robertson (‘Peace in 10,000 Hands’) has created a special film which aims to start a conversation on peace.

SMART TALK: JANE USSHER AND NIGEL WATSON
Award-winning journalist Finlay Macdonald hosts photographer Jane Ussher and Antarctic Heritage Trust Executive Director Nigel Watson as they reflect on their experiences inside the huts of two heroic polar explorers, Scott and Shackleton.
Jane Ussher will share her experience documenting the huts for the Still Life photo series while Nigel Watson will talk about the Trust's role in meticulously conserving the huts and their thousands of objects in Antarctica.

STILL LIFE: INSIDE THE ANTARCTIC HUTS OF SCOTT AND SHACKLETON
Step ‘inside’ the historic huts of Antarctic explorers Captain Robert Falcon Scott and Sir Ernest Shackleton to relive a time of extraordinary polar exploration. Experience a unique audiovisual work* created by New Zealand photographer Jane Ussher and the Antarctic Heritage Trust to become immersed in the landscape, isolation and lives left behind by these heroic early explorers.

THE HILLARY LECTURE 2014 - AN EVENING WITH ELEANOR CATTON
Auckland based internationally acclaimed author and winner of the 2013 Man Booker Prize, Eleanor Catton, is this year’s guest speaker for the Hillary Lecture. Presented in association with the Auckland Museum Circle and Museum Institute, this talk and Q+A session wil be hosted by journalistNoelle McCarthy.

LATE: THE PACIFIC SOUND
How deep are the roots of Pacific Island culture in New Zealand music?
Chaired by Oscar Kightley your expert panel for the evening features godfather of New Zealand Hip Hop Danny "Brotha D" Leaosavai'i from Dawn Raid Entertainment, acclaimed top-selling songstress Annie Crummer, and legendary activist and reggae artist Tigilau Ness.
Following the smart talk, Annie Crummer will be joined on stage by her father Will Crummer, a master singer and encyclopaedia of Polynesian song, for a beautiful and soulful performance.
