Start to Spring Brings Volatile Weather
The start of spring ushered in the usual volatile weather in the shape of blustery conditions over the weekend.
On Sunday, wind gusts of up to 85 km/h were reported in Whangaparaoa, 70 km/h in West Auckland and 76 km/h in southern
parts of the city.
As we head toward the spring equinox (September 23), it’s a good time to remind our customers that when they have an
outage, they should now get in touch with Vector directly, instead of their retailer.

Network summary for week ending 14 September 2014
Electricity
Our contractors helped remove a tree that had fallen on a transformer in Eden Terrace during the week. They made the
site safe and the asset was handed over to the maintenance team for repairs.
Car vs pole incidents occurred in Wiri, Mangere, Papakura, Carrington Road, Mangere West, Te Atatu Peninsula,
Morningside, Wairau Valley and Mt Albert during the week. Our contractors undertook an emergency shutdown at the Wairau
Valley incident so that emergency repairs could be made. Cars also struck two pillars and three transformers.
Emergency services advised our control room of house fires in Waiheke, Te Papapa, Mangere and Albany during the week.
Our contractors isolated power at these incidents.
Gas
Emergency services responded to third party damage to our gas assets in Gisborne, Long Bay and Melville during the week.
No customers were affected, and our contractors completed necessary repairs.
