Unexplained Death in Peka Peka - Peka Peka, Kapiti Coast - Wellington

A person was found deceased in a vehicle at Peka Peka Beach in the early hours of Saturday 13/09/2014.
Police were notified by a member of the public at 4.50am that a vehicle appeared to have come off the road and was stuck on a sand dune. The engine was still running and the driver appeared to be unconscious.
Police and ambulance attended, and the 41 year old male driver was found to be deceased in the vehicle.
A scene examination has been carried out by the Wellington District Crime Squad, and a Post Mortem is likely to be carried out on Monday.
Police know the identity of the driver and the next of kin are in the process of being notified.
At this stage Police are treating the death as unexplained and are interested in speaking to anyone who may have been in the beach area of Peka Peka Road between midnight and 5.00 am on Saturday.
