‘The Big Six’ Priorities for Long Term Plan
Hawke’s Bay Regional Council’s long term planning is well underway and a list of six strategic priorities has been drafted.
Hawke’s Bay people will have the opportunity to consider this list over the next few weeks.
At recent workshops, Regional Councillors have discussed and refined the key issues facing Hawke’s Bay over the next 10 years or more, where HBRC has a role and can take the lead.
The priority topics for HBRC’s Long Term Plan are: Energy future; Relationship with Māori; Regional economic development; Connecting our region (transport and communications); Wise land use; and Climate change. These topics are being called ‘The Big Six’.
The community will be asked for their comments on The Big Six from the end of September until mid October.
Information will be posted on the Council’s website and on Facebook and other social media. A printed document will also be available on request and information advertisements will be published in newspapers.
Councillors will also meet with key groups and organisations, including local city and district Councillors, to discuss the big issues and development of the region’s Long Term Plan.
Feedback on The Big Six will contribute to the Long Term Plan, which is being progressed now and will be available for formal consultation in April next year.
