Police seek information on vehicle in relation to Ashburton shooting
Police investigating last week’s shooting in Ashburton are seeking information from the public regarding a 1985 model white Mitsubishi Mirage GLX Saloon similar to the one pictured with this release. Police believe the man arrested in relation to the incident had this vehicle in his possession on the 5/6 August this year but it’s current whereabouts is unknown.
The Police dive team from Wellington are continuing the underwater search of the Ashburton River today for any unrecovered personal items that might be related to the investigation including an additional firearm and ammunition that may have been in the man’s possession.
Media and members of the general public are asked to continue to stay away from the Ashburton River area while the search is ongoing.
The investigation team are continually assessing information provided by the public and media in relation to this incident. This includes reports of a tablet being handed in to Blenheim Police earlier this week.
If you believe you have any information that may help with locating the white 1985 Mitsubishi Mirage GLX or any personal items call Ashburton police on (03) 307 8411.
Information can also be provided anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
